Dental Technology

Every year, there are advances in technology that enable us to treat our patients more effectively or with less pain. Our office is committed to using
the best, most up-to-date technology and practices.

WaterLase dentistry is one of the most advanced dental treatments today. WaterLase uses a patented technology that combines focused light energy with a stream of water for a highly precise, exceptionally gentle dental experience. WaterLase allows Dr. Jay to perform a wide range of procedures with benefits including:

  • Faster healing time and less trauma to teeth and gums.
  • Less anesthetic for most procedures.
  • Treating dental needs in more than one part of the mouth in one visit.
  • Making dental care a more relaxing experience for you.

Monday through Thursday: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Dr. Vandewater’s office is conveniently located in West County on Clarkson Road, just south of Clayton Road and the Daniel Boone library.

Digital X-Rays

Digital x-rays give us a clearer picture of your mouth and a more accurate way to diagnose dental problems. Within just a few seconds, Dr. Vandewater can project the image of your teeth on a screen and show you the exact cause of your problems.

They also reduce the exposure of radiation to you (and our staff), and benefit our environment by reducing the use of harsh chemicals and producing less waste materials.

T-Scan III

The T-scan allows Dr. Vandewater to analyze your bite and see how well your teeth come together. Ideally, all your teeth should come in contact with one another about the same time and with equal force. Patients who have an uneven bite can suffer from damaged crowns and bridges, fractured teeth, joint pain, teeth grinding, headache, neck pain and excessive tooth wear. With the T-Scan bite test, Dr. Vandewater can accurately diagnose these types of problems.

The bite test is completely painless and takes just a few seconds.

The Wand

If the idea of an injection is keeping you away from seeing the dentist, you’ll be relieved to know that Dr. Vandewater uses “The Wand” – a painless and stress-free alternative to dental anesthesia via syringe. Patients of all ages love the wand. Some of our patients don’t even realize that we have just anesthetized them!

Diagnodent Laser

Dr. Vandewater will look in your mouth and at your digital x-rays to see if there is any evidence of tooth decay. X-rays are indispensable in finding cavities in between teeth and on the roots, but not at detecting tooth decay in the deep crevices of the tooth’s chewing surface.

The Diagnodent laser is a revolutionary new way to find even the smallest areas of tooth decay so they can be treated earlier. It is completely painless and uses a harmless laser beam to detect tooth decay that is developing below the surface.

When decay is detected earlier, Dr. Vandewater can treat it before it becomes a larger issue and requires costly and complicated procedures.
